Saving Documents

Four different menu options for saving documents:

Choose File > Save Document to save the document in the active window. If it's a newly created document, then you will be presented with a Save As dialog box, enabling you to type in a filename and select a folder.

Choose File > Save Document As to save the document in the active window with a new filename and/or folder location. You will be presented with a Save As dialog box, to type in a filename and select a folder. The active window will switch to editing this newly saved copy.

Choose File > Save Document Copy As to save a copy of the document in the active window with a new filename and/or folder location. You will be presented with a Save As dialog box, to type in a filename and select a folder. The active window will remain editing the original copy.

Choose File > Save All to save all open documents.

Auto Save

When editing any document, iStudio Publisher will automatically create a separate copy of that document, an 'autosaved' file, which it saves every few minutes. Autosaved files are stored in your Documents folder.

If a new document has never been saved its autosaved filename will be Unsaved iStudio Publisher Document.ispx. For any document that has been saved at least once its autosaved filename will be It's filename (autosaved).ispx.

If iStudio Publisher quits unexpectedly without saving, then the next time you launch iStudio Publisher it will find any autosaved files and offer to open them.

The auto save mechanism should mean that you will never lose more minutes of work than your chosen auto save duration. However, whilst editing a document it's still good practice to manually save it fairly frequently.

The auto save preference enables you to set how many minutes will elapse between each successive saving of autosaved files.

NOTE 1: If you close a document normally its autosaved file will be deleted, irrespective of whether you choose to save the edits or not.

NOTE 2: iStudio Publisher does not include the ability to automatically save versions of documents as you work on them, browse through earlier document versions, or go back to an older version.
